Philadelphia Personal Injury Law Firm Feldman Shepherd Honored for Pro Bono WorkThe Philadelphia personal injury law firm of Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock & Dodig was honored with Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent Program’s (VIP) Chancellor’s Award. The Award recognized the firm’s outstanding pro bono work on behalf of the region’s economically disadvantaged. In keeping with Feldman Shepherd’s philosophy of giving back to the community, virtually all of the firm’s attorneys provide pro bono legal services to those who are in need of legal assistance but cannot afford to hire an attorney.
In addition to providing direct assistance to Philadelphia VIP clients, Feldman Shepherd attorney Peter M. Newman serves on the organization’s board of directors. A long-time supporter of legal services organizations, Feldman Shepherd administrator Gilbert J. Marquez chairs Philadelphia VIP’s communications committee and sits on the agency’s board of directors and executive committee.
“We are honored to be recognized for our firm’s commitment to aiding those in need,” said Feldman Shepherd managing partner Alan M. Feldman, who is an active volunteer lawyer for Philadelphia VIP. “Even more so, we are proud to be part of a legal community that recognizes the importance of contributing time and services to those who are less fortunate. Year after year, Philadelphia attorneys devote their time and talents to providing legal assistance to indigent children, adults and families who so desperately need a helping hand.”
Handling cases that cannot or will not be accepted by other public interest organizations, Philadelphia VIP serves more than 1,000 low-income individuals and families whose civil legal problems threaten their most basic human needs. The agency’s 2009 awards ceremony, held on Feb. 25 at the City Hall Ceremonial Courtroom in Philadelphia, honored attorneys and law firms for their tireless dedication to serving the region’s most disadvantaged residents.
