Roberta D. Pichini

Practice Areas: Auto / Motor Vehicle Accidents, Auto Defects / Crashworthiness, Class Actions, Medical Malpractice, Product Liability

For more than 30years, Roberta "Bobbie" Pichini has represented seriously injured babies, children and adults. She has litigated countless medical malpractice cases, including obstetrical malpractice resulting in brain-injured children, delay in diagnosis of cancer, emergency room errors, and patient abuse by therapists. She successfully prosecutes product liability actions and is especially proud of a suit against a major manufacturer of children's cribs which uncovered a defect that had caused the strangulation of many babies.

Her diverse practice also includes representation of victims of catastrophic auto and boating accidents, including several victims of the Pier 34 collapse in Philadelphia. A case involving the drowning of a father and son while canoeing resulted, not only in a substantial monetary award, but also in the removal of the dangerous dam which caused their deaths.

The first woman in Pennsylvania to be invited into the prestigious International Academy of Trial Lawyers (membership is limited to 500 lawyers), Ms. Pichini was elected the organization's first woman officer in 2003. She became the first woman President in 2011. Ms. Pichini has also been invited to join the American College of Trial Lawyers and ABOTA (American Board of Trial Advocates), has been inducted as a Fellow in the International Society of Barristers (ISOB), an elite by invitation-only group dedicated to preserving trial by jury, the adversary system and an independent judiciary, and is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.

Ms. Pichini was named by The Legal Intelligencer as one of four women leaders in personal injury litigation in Pennsylvania. She was awarded the Sandra Day O'Connor Award by the Philadelphia Bar Association for professional excellence and advancing the role of women in the bar. Her move to Feldman Shepherd in 2004 was listed as one of the top lateral moves of the year.

Each year the award has been given, Roberta Pichini has been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters, published annually in Philadelphia magazine. In 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008 and 2007 she was recognized as a Top 50 Pennsylvania Super Lawyer, and a Top 100 Philadelphia Super Lawyer.

Ms. Pichini is an honors graduate of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, Neumann College and Villanova University School of Law, where she earned the Order of the Coif honors.  She was an editor of the Villanova Law Review and served as a law clerk to the Honorable Donald W. VanArtsdalen, of the United States District Court.
