Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock & Dodig, and his wife, Kathleen, are serving as co-chairs of the 2009 Support Center for Child Advocates Annual Benefit Reception & Silent Auction. The event will be held in the Wanamaker Building’s Crystal Tea Room on April 22, 2009. The program will open with an award ceremony honoring Ronald McDonald House co-founder and former Philadelphia Eagles General Manager Jim Murray. During the evening, numerous distinguished child advocates will be recognized.
In addition, film director Lee Daniels will receive special recognition for raising awareness of child abuse through his critically acclaimed films “Push: Based on the Novel by Sapphire” and “The Woodsman.” A reception will follow, with a silent auction.
Founded in 1977, the Support Center for Child Advocates provides legal assistance and social service advocacy to abused and neglected children in Philadelphia County. Since its founding, the organization has trained more than 3,000 attorneys who each year contribute pro bono services valued at more than $3 million. Children are referred to Child Advocates through the courts, the District Attorney’s Office, the Philadelphia Department of Human Services, hospitals and private social service agencies.
An accomplished trial attorney with a wide ranging practice in complex litigation, Mr. Tanner is member of Child Advocate’s board of directors and an active volunteer lawyer for the organization. Mr. Tanner also serves on the board of directors of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association and as past president, and is a frequent faculty member in programs devoted to the development of trial advocacy skills.
