$3.8 Million Settlement for Bicyclist Injured in Motor Vehicle Accident

In July of 2013, John M. Dodig and Jason A. Daria obtained a $3.8 million settlement on behalf of a bicyclist injured in a motor vehicle accident. It was alleged that improper lighting contributed to the happening of the accident. The case was hotly contested with the corporate defendants claiming non-responsibility. The corporate defendants blamed the plaintiff for failing to use due care while riding his bicycle. Plaintiffs were required to prove that the corporate defendants knew or should have known about the poor lighting conditions in the area where plaintiff crashed his bicycle. As a result of the accident plaintiff sustained serious injuries. After multiple mediations and on the eve of trial the case settled for $3.8 million. The settlement will be used to take care of Plaintiff’s medical needs for the rest of his life.
