PRODUCT LIABILITY: DANGEROUS TOYS

Feldman Shepherd Product Liability Dangerous ToysMany parents believe that purchasing age-appropriate toys manufactured by a reputable company will ensure their children’s playtime safety. Unfortunately, however, an alarming number of seemingly safe toys turn out to be dangerous. In 2007 alone the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled more than 30 million dangerous toys. In fact, more than 9 million toys manufactured by Mattel were recalled that year because they contained hazardous lead paint or dangerously small parts. These recalls and others prompted several consumer groups to seek CPSC reforms. In their report, “Total Recall: The Need for CPSC Reform Now,” the groups emphasized that toys and other children’s products sold in the United States were not being subjected to any pre-market government testing. Despite the passage of more stringent consumer product safety legislation during 2008, toy recalls continue with alarming regularity. From swing sets to board games, dolls to cars and pacifiers to stuffed animals, hidden dangers can pose life threatening risks to children.

If your child has been injured by a dangerous toy, it is crucial to consult with an experienced personal injury lawyer as soon as possible. Handling each defective toy claim as a special and unique case, our skilled trial lawyers can help you secure all of the compensation to which you and your child may be entitled. This may include compensation for pain and suffering, financial loss, emotional distress and past, current and future medical expenses. In some cases, you may also be entitled to punitive damages for another party’s wrongdoing. Our dedicated attorneys can also help you deal with your insurance company, as well as the insurer of the other party or parties. The insurance companies have lawyers working hard to minimize their payouts; you need a lawyer who will work just as hard for you.

At Feldman Shepherd, we are committed to helping our clients throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey obtain the best possible recovery as expeditiously as possible. We are here to serve you with hard work, attention to detail and a caring approach tailored to your individual needs. If we may be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact us today
