Biography

Evan Y. Liu, M.D., J.D., is a 2006 graduate of the Widener University School of Law as well as a 1984 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University/Jefferson Medical College 5-Year Cooperative Program. Prior to being admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, Dr. Liu was a 15-year veteran of full time Emergency Medicine practice in the Delaware Valley and has been a board certified Family Practitioner. He has completed an internship in General Surgery and a residency in Family Medicine, and was the Assistant Director of Delaware County Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department. He has also served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Hahnemann University Hospital, and currently participates as a guest lecturer at the Widener University School of Law, covering such topics such as the MCARE and Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Acts, patient safety and medical errors, and the effect of malpractice litigation on physician behavior.

Additionally, he has earned a Masters of Science in Information Science from the Pennsylvania State University, concentrating on the security, privacy, and patient safety issues relevant to medical information systems. As a law student, Dr. Liu was an intern in the law department of Genesis Health Care Systems, Inc., Kennett Square, PA, focusing on physician credentialing, discipline, and reporting under the Health Care Quality Improvement Act, employee and independent contractor compensation and taxation issues. He has also performed as research assistant to Professor Robert Hayman, concentrating on constitutional law issues.

In 2010, Dr. Liu was named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Rising Star.
