AUTO ACCIDENTS: TOURIST BOAT ACCIDENTS Duck Boat Sinks in Delaware River, Feldman Shepherd Attorneys Consulted by Media
On July 7, 2010, a tourist “Duck Boat” sank in Philadelphia after it collided with a barge in the Delaware River. Attorneys Alan F. Feldman and Roberta D. Pichini have been interviewed by various media outlets including The Philadelphia Daily News, CBS 3, CW Philly 57, and Fox 29 to provide legal analysis of the issues. Both attorneys participated in the Pier 34 litigation in 2000 in which the frim represented victims who were injured when they fell into the Delaware River as a result of the collapse of the pier. Alan Feldman and Bobbie Pichini have been asked to address the topics of river safety, boating safety, maritime law and vehicle integrity.
According to published reports, 37 people were aboard the popular tourist ride that apparently uses converted and re-makes of World War II amphibious vehicles to provide tours of Old City and then a cruise in the Delaware River from a ramp under the Ben Franklin Bridge. The people on board were local residents and tourists, including members of a tour group from Hungary. The Penn’s Landing section of the Delaware River was closed to marine traffic by the Coast Guard following the incident.
According to reports, “Ride the Ducks” was the first to bring the amphibious tour boats to Philadelphia in 2003 which currently operates out of Penn’s Landing, Philadelphia.
