Mark W. TannerPractice Areas: Class Actions, Insurance Bad Faith, Medical Malpractice, Product Liability

Mark W. Tanner is an accomplished trial attorney with a wide ranging practice in complex litigation. In addition to securing one of the largest medical malpractice verdicts in the courts of Pennsylvania, Mr. Tanner has also secured what is believed to be the largest jury verdict in Pennsylvania in a bad faith case against an insurance company.
Mr. Tanner has been appointed by the court as liaison counsel in mass tort litigation in both Pennsylvania state and federal courts, and has handled cases throughout Pennsylvania and across the country. He primarily represents catastrophically injured individuals in medical negligence, product liability, and general negligence matters, although he also has substantial experience in cases involving disability insurance claims, insurance bad faith and class action litigation.
Mr. Tanner received a B.A. in English Literature from the College of the Holy Cross, and received his law degree with honors from Temple University School of Law. At Temple, he received awards in the fields of trial and appellate advocacy.
Mr. Tanner has been recognized for six consecutive years (2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009 and 2008) as one of the Top 10 Super Lawyers in Pennsylvania by Thomson Reuters, published annually in Philadelphia magazine, and as one of the Top 100 Super Lawyers® in Pennsylvania in every year in which the list was compiled. In 2010, the magazine ran a feature article on him.
In recognition of his success at trial, Mr. Tanner was one of the youngest attorneys ever invited to become a fellow of the prestigious International Academy of Trial Attorneys (membership is limited to 500 lawyers). He has also been selected for membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), and holds certifications as a Civil Trial Specialist and in Civil Pretrial Practice by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
Since 1997, Mr. Tanner has served continuously on the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, becoming their President in July 2007. He is also a recipient of the President’s Award from that organization. Mr. Tanner frequently serves as a faculty member in programs devoted to the development of trial advocacy skills, and teaches at Temple University's Academy of Advocacy. He has been an instructor in more than 50 courses and seminars for practicing lawyers, and has lectured throughout the United States and, by invitation, to Barristers in London.
Mr. Tanner also maintains a strong interest in the representation of underprivileged and neglected children, serving as a child advocate for the non-profit Support Center for Child Advocates, where he has also served on to the board of directors.
