COMMUNITY SERVICE / CHARITABLE / TEACHING ACTIVITIES OF FELDMAN SHEPHERD LAWYERS
A Gift of Service from Staff to Partners at Feldman Shepherd Law Firm
In recognition of the plight of those less fortunate, each year during the holiday season the staff of Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock & Dodig LLP donates time, funds and/or needed items to a local charitable organization in honor of the firm’s partners and their efforts to build better lives for others.
The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House was the 2009 recipient of our staff’s efforts, receiving more than $500 in monetary donations and a bevy of items collected as part of a Holiday Wish List Drive organized by Kathleen Aretz. The wish list items included gift cards, cameras, batteries, infant care items, electronics and toys. The Ronald McDonald House provides a “home away from home” to families with critically ill children receiving treatment at Philadelphia hospitals. In recognition of these generous donations, two bricks reflecting the firm name were placed in the Ronald McDonald House courtyard in January 2010.
In 2008, the staff participated in the Salvation Army of Greater Philadelphia’s “Adopt-a-Family” program, which helps nearly 200 Philadelphia-area families in need each year. Through “Adopt-a-Family,” staff members, organized by Aretz, generously donated thousands of dollars in goods and gifts, including numerous retail, grocery and restaurant gift cards, a host of household items and appliances, clothing, personal toiletries, sporting tickets, electronics, toys and other requested items specifically selected for each of the recipient family’s seven members. The family members were a 29-year-old single mother who had been diagnosed with HIV, her children, who suffered from health problems requiring hospitalization and her siblings, who had been left with her by her drug-addicted mother. It was a privilege for staff members to provide this family with a real holiday.

Virtually all of the Feldman Shepherd personal injury lawyers provide pro bono legal services to those who are unable to afford to hire an attorney. The Feldman Shepherd law firm is also a proud supporter of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s “Raising the Bar” campaign, which helps to fund the more than 30 public interest law organizations that serve Philadelphia’s neediest citizens. “Raising the Bar” was started by Alan Feldman during his year as Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association in 2006. Both lawyers and administrative staff alike share in the desire to support our community. Here are just a few examples of how our team gives back to the community.
