Feldman Shepherd Founding Partner Carol Nelson Shepherd Elected President of Homeless Advocacy Project Board

January 2, 2015

Founding partner Carol Nelson Shepherd, Esq. of Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock Dodig LLP has been elected President of the Homeless Advocacy Project (HAP) Board of Directors for a one year term beginning January 1, 2015.

HAP, currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, was established by a group of concerned citizens and activists to address the unmet legal needs of Philadelphia’s homeless and shelter populations. HAP collaborates with shelter providers, homeless advocates, community service providers and legal community members to provide homeless clients and shelter residents with legal representation and connect them with other available social services and benefits. HAP’s 350 volunteers have helped more than 35,300 homeless people and, to date, have provided more than $50 million worth of free legal services to their clients.

“It is an honor to take the helm of such a meaningful and rewarding organization,” said Shepherd. “My hope is that by working with the amazingly supportive network of volunteers and donors we can make the 25th anniversary the most successful year ever.”

Shepherd focuses her practice on catastrophic injury claims arising from medical negligence. She has represented clients in a wide array of medical malpractice claims, including those arising from obstetric/childbirth injuries, delayed diagnosis of cancer, negligent surgery, and other medical errors.
