Attorney Carol Nelson Shepherd Speaks at American Association for Justice Convention in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (July 24, 2008) – Carol Nelson Shepherd, a Philadelphia attorney and founding partner of Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock & Dodig, spoke at the American Association for Justice (AAJ) Convention 2008. She addressed how to prove a case through the defendant doctor’s deposition on Saturday, July 12, 2008 in Philadelphia.

An accomplished trial attorney, Shepherd was the first female president of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association. She has also served as president of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association and was recently inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers. Shepherd is widely published and serves as a frequent presenter on the preparation and trial of medical malpractice claims. She has devoted her practice to catastrophic injury cases arising from medical negligence. She is the author of several professional articles and book chapters on this topic including Top Ten Missed Diagnoses in Emergency Room Cases, Delay in Diagnosis of Cancer, Proving Medical Negligence Cases Through the Defendant Doctor’s Deposition, and Failure to Diagnose Fetal Distress: A Medical Primer.
 
Shepherd’s “Proving Your Case Through the Defendant Doctor’s Deposition” was hosted by the Stalwart/Hall of Fame Committee for their education program. This year’s program theme was, “The Best of the Best-Great Trial Lawyers Reveal the Most Effective Concept or Technique They Use in Trial or In Preparation for Trial.”

Shepherd has represented clients in claims against health care providers arising from obstetric/childbirth injury, delayed diagnosis of cancer, improperly performed surgery, psychiatric malpractice and many other cases involving substandard medical care.

Born in West Point, New York, Shepherd earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology and English from Arizona State University in 1975 and her law degree from Syracuse University College of Law in 1978. She currently resides in Philadelphia.
