$3.95 Million Recovered on Behalf of Disabled Woman in Anesthesia Mishap

Attorney Mark W. Tanner obtained a $3.95 million settlement for the estate of a disabled woman who died from complications of a hypoxic brain injury she suffered following spinal surgery. The patient had undergone an apparently successful fusion surgery on her cervical spine when she was prematurely extubated by anesthesia at a time when she could not breathe on her own. During the almost 20 minutes it took for the anesthesia team to re-establish and airway, the patient suffered a profound and permanent brain injury due to a lack of oxygen.
